Alphington AFC - Under 9s Managed by Dave Bunclark

Saturday 9th February 2008

WEST HILL WASPS 0 ALPHINGTON JETS 4

On a glorious morning and great pitch,Alphington put in one of their best performances of the season. The Jets played some great football and took the lead early on with a well taken Jack Bunclark goal. Two further goals from Captain Sam Webber and the silky Cam Hargreaves made the soreline 3-0 at half time.Tony Hutchins came on and scored with his left foot from 10 yards. Both teams tried to play the game on the floor, but in a good spirited match Alphington ran out worthy winners. The solid back three of Ben Vanstone,Ben Rooke and Ben Clancy Mitchell, all played their part in this excellent game.

The Jets started the game flying and a great pass from Sam Webber allowed Jack Bunclark to turn and hit a right foot screamer in the bottom corner from 15 yards. The jets scored their 2nd,when captain George Rae scored a well deserved individual goal.Jack made it 3-0 with his second of the game, befor a lovely passing move, set up Cam Hargreaves to drill into the top corner from 15yards.In the second half the Hornets gave a good account of theirselves and never gave up.At half time,Ben Vanstone swapped gave his goalie jersey to Jack Bunclark to come in at the back and played very well alongside Sam Webber.Cam Hargreaves beat 2 players, before unselfishly setting up Tony Hutchins, who volleyed home from the penalty spot.George got his 2nd of the game with a well taken goal to make it 6-0 at the final whistle. The Hornets looked a very useful outfit and on another day,the scoreline may have been different.Another clean sheet, shows how well Ben Clancy Mitchell and Ben Rooke had played again without necessarily getting the credit they deserve.Well done to both teams, with the match played in a tremendous spirit.
