Alphington AFC - Under 9s Managed by Dave Bunclark

Sidmouth Town Warriors  2   Alphingtom Jets  2  after extra time

Alphington won 2-1 on penalties

Sidmouth started the game very strongly on a sticky pitch and Ben Vanstone had to pull off some fine saves to keep the score 0-0.

Harvey Sargeant was commanding in midfield for the Warriors. In the second half both George Rae and Jack Bunclark went close, but were denied by an excellent keeper for the Warriors.

The Jets took a deserved lead when captain Sam Webber scored from the penalty spot after a handball. Sidmouth deservedly equalised through a good Alex Stone goal. This meant extra time, with both sides going close

.Ben Rooke and Ben Clancy Mitchell were dogged in defence for the Jets and with 1 minute to go in the second period of extra time,George Rae unleashed from 25 yards to make it 2-1.Sidmouth again deservedly equalised a few minutes later when Jo Miller converted from the corner of the penalty box.

In a very even, hard fought contest between the boys, nobody deserved to lose.

On to the penalties where George Rae stood up to ram home the first penalty, only for Harvey to level. 1 miss from either side meant sudden death.

Sam put his in the top corner for the Jets and an excellent save from Ben Vanstone meant the Jets were through. Both managers agreed the boys were a credit to themselves and the league.
