Alphington AFC - Under 8s Managed by Rob Dodd Graham White

Sainsburys under 8 Knock- out Cup - 26th January 2008 (rearranged from cancelled fixture December 8th)

Alphington Rockets 3 - 1 Twyford Spartans

This rearranged fixture saw Alphington Rockets finally come out on top despite a very spirited Twyford side.

The Rockets had plenty of good possession and went close to scoring on several occasions, however, the deadlock was broken midway through the first half. Luke White crossed a neat ball over to the far post, to James Dodd, who just nipped in front of the Twyford defender and tap the ball into the net.

The second goal soon followed when Joe McKenzie`s perfect corner found Max Hamett to blast a half volley past the Twyford keeper. Twyford Spartans started the second half strong and had a good period of possession, yet it was The Rockets who scored once again.

Joe McKenzie`s corner alluded the Twyford defenders, and a touch from Lucas White helped the ball into the back of the net.

This spurred on Twyford Spartans and they managed to score after some good play from their forwards. The Rockets defended well and with Captain Oliver Saunders, defending well, and James Bovey`s fine display in goal the Rockets progress to the second round.

This was an excellent competitive  game, played with great spirit between the two sides.
