Latest Match News: Stoke Hill Celtic 2 - 3 Alphas ( Juventus Knockout Cup Quarter Final)
A thrilling cup tie was eventually settled in extra time with the Alphas coming out on top against their city rivals. With Exeter City Youth having no game the following day Celtic could field a full strength side but the Alphas were without MnM May who was at a wedding ( not his own ) and Crouchy Ibbeson who had a poorly tum tum .
Ther Alphas started really well and Ozzi The Bullet was terrorising the Celtic full back . Two great crosses to the far post gave Westlife Rowe the chance to head home but it would have meant his hair getting out of place so the chance went begging. Then from our own corner Celtic cleared the
ball and two passes later the lively Jacob Cane is through on goal . Jens Stevo comes out laughing and joking trying to put him off but to no avail. Cane slips the ball into the bottom corner and against the run of play we are 1-0 down
Credit to the lads they continued to push forward and we camped out in their half for the next twenty . "Flick it up" Gray took time out from the circus to put in some great crosses from a succession of corners and from one of these came the equaliser. Hoppo attacked the near post and the ball bounced off his **** and his elbow before finding the back of the net . 1-1 at half time
The second half was a more even affair with both teams attacking at every opportunity. Some great play from both teams had the capacity crowd on its feet ( there were no seats ) and someone even spotted Ian Dowie on the touchline who must have been on his holidays now he's been sacked by Coventry. Hayley started to hyperventilate on the touchline as the last five minutes approached as the Alphas pushed on looking for a winner. Ben Stevo was now on for Lee who was having a breather and applying some Shockwaves Extra Strong Hold to his barnet. Then a crunching challenge from the hard working Chip n Dale on halfway set up Ivan Campo to slide a great ball inside the full back for Ozzi . A great touch and bang.... back of the net get in there . Surely that would win it for us. 2-1.
Fair play to Celtic though , they pushed Jordan Moore Taylor up front and with seconds to go got the equaliser. A free kick and a lapse of concentration and we concede a soft goal to take it to extra time. The boys were clearly gutted but we had won the game once and had to go and do it again. More end to end footy followed and Baxo and Squeaker were outstanding at the back. Chopper Bath was keeping an eye on their danger man Jacob Cane winning everything inn the air just like his old man used to
.
Josh the King and Chip up front were proving a real handful for the highly rated Celtic defence of Taylor and Pike but as the second period of extra time progressed it was still anyone's game. With five to go however came the decisive moment . A free kick 30 yards out saw Flicker deliver a great
ball to the far post ,Chip rose like a salmon ( should have been Cod ) and from his nod back Baxo volleyed in to the roof of the net. After consulting his lino the ref gave the goal and quite right too. Video evidence on Match of The Day clearly shows that Chip was onside when heading it back for Baxo.
The Alphas held on for the last few minutes nervously before the ref blew and Rhona ,Shirley , Kay and Hayley ran onto the pitch waving their blouses above their heads before bundling on top of Matt Parrot the Man of the Match all wanting to know was it Timotei the makes his hair so wavy and shiny??
Into the semis , well played lads
