Latest Match News: Alphas 2 - 1 Brixington Blues 05/01/2008
A great start to the New Year for the Alphas as one of our best performances of the season gives us victory over high flying Blues. Despite a poor first ten minutes we grew steadily into the game with central midfield duo Gray and Hoppo starting to influence the play. Up front Chip n Dale and Squeaker Phillips were proving a real handful and a succession of corners and half chances gave us hope
Then surprise surprise just before half time they score against the run of play after a deflected through ball wrong foots our defence and matey boy goes through to shoot past Jens Stevo
The second half sees a great response from the Alphas. The back four is rock solid giving us a great platform to keep the play in their half . Some lovely one touch footy brings us more pressure and corners and after 65 mins its 1-1. a Great run from Ozzi wins us a corner from which Chip rises like a salmon at the back post to head in
Its all Alphas now and 10 mins later its 2-1 to us. A great bit of play from MnM May , Campo Parrot , Hoppo and Squeaker sees the ball arrive at Chips feet . One quick touch to set and bang ...a great left footer into the bottom corner.
The last 5 mins sees the defence come in to their own repelling the frantic raids of the Blues . Some good keeping from Jens and a superb last ditch tackle from Chopper Bath seals us a great victory
Outstanding team performance but special mention to Chip O Donoghue ..two goal reward for all tha hard work
