Alphington AFC - Under 11s Managed by Kevin May & Tony Towl

Latest News: Whipton Youth   2   Alphington   0
This game was always going to be close with both teams sitting first and second in the league. Alphington started the brighter and pushed Whipton back into their own half forcing several corners in the early stages. Whipton had some breakaway chances but both defences stood firm. Itwas clear that the game would either end in stalemate or won by a great piece of skill or defensive mistake. As it was both sides couldn't create a clear shooting opportunity.

The second half continued in much the same vane until a scrambled Whipton shot deflected past keeper Aidan Richards leaving him stranded. Nathan May and Tom Scadding began winning more of the ball in midfield but just coulodn't find the final pass through a determined Whipton defence. Halfway through the half another scramble and another deflection and the score was 2-0. Aidan Rchards hadn't put a foot wrong in goal and was unlucky to be sent the wrong way much to his frustration. We pushed on and Dan Shannon went on a storming run from midfield forcing his way through but was tackled just as he was about to shoot. Aidan kept the score respectable by making 2 one on one saves. We could find no way through and at the final whistle both managers agreed that it was an even game and an unfair reflection of a very good game.
