Latest News: Alphington Tigers 0 - 1   Westexe Rangers 26th January 2008

An evenly fought match saw the Alphas have a lot of possession for the main part of the first half. The possession however did not lead to any goals despite numerous chances only finding Westexe’s keeper Jake Moore-Taylor in fine form. Westexe began to get on top toward the back end of the first half and pinned the Tigers back eventually leading to a well taken goal, Alphas just unable to clear it off the line.

The second half saw chances at both ends with Alpha’s keeper Sammy Hill once again foiling attempts on his goal and matching Moore-Taylor’s efforts in the opposing goal. Alphington lacked a little composure on the ball and couldn’t seem to place enough pressure when it mattered. The last 10 minutes saw the Alpha’s push extra resources up front striving for an equaliser but Westexe defended well and kept the clean sheet. The effort and commitment of all the boys couldn’t be faulted with performances from Dan Shannon, Toby Weatherill and Sammy Hill of particular note. Both sides played their part to make it an enjoyable game to watch, arguably a draw would have been a fair result.

Man of the Match Dan Shannon for excellent defending and once again Sammy Hill for good decision making and saves.
