Alphington AFC - Under 11s Managed by Kevin May & Tony Towl

Latest Results: Alphas into the Semis - Plate quarter final group

Alphington 4 v Sidmouth 0

In the first of our group games we started excellently and passed the ball around with confidence and ease. We pushed Sidmouth back from the start with some dominant midfield play by Tom Scadding and Nathan May. Reece Saunders linked up excellently with Toby Weatherill on the right to cause them problems. The goals soon came with Nathan May and Thomas Allen scoring in quick succession. With Jacob Towl and Dan Shannon in command at the back and Cameron Martin and Toby causing them trouble down both wings the pressure soon told with a scramble in the box and Cameron there to finish off for number 3. Thomas Allen scored again in a fine display to complete the scoring in the first half.

With several changes made at half-time and with the game as good as won the fresh legs of James Lowton, Henry Passmore and Ollie Slee continued to cause them problems and with Sammy Hill hassling their backline at every opportunity and prevented Sidmouth from stringing more than 2 passes together. Ellis Corkin came on in centre midfield and blended in well. Having not played much match football this year he helped to continue the pressure by breaking up Sidmouth moves and making the right passes to keep us going forward.

All in all an excellent Team performance.

Man Of Match, Ellis Corkin for all his hard efforts in midfield.

Alphington 0 v Feniton 0

With Sidmouth having beaten Feniton in the first game 1-0 all that we needed from this game was a draw. Although bottom of the league, Feniton put up a stern fight and refused to let us play good football. We struggled to put passes together and couldn't find a way through a dogged defense. Chances came through shots from Tom Scadding, just passed the post, Nathan May, hitting the cross bar and Toby Weatherill but even when they were on target we found the Feniton keeper in superb form. Everyone huffed and puffed but made no headway. Feniton had 1 chaqnce early on which keeper Sammy Hill saved supebly but other than that never looked like scoring so I believe the boys new they had done enough, which they had.

Man of Match Sammy Hill for the great save and staying focused throughout.
