Alphington AFC - Under 11s Managed by Kevin May & Tony Towl

Latest Results: Alphington 3 v Central Yellows 1

On a blustery morning and with great expectations following two brilliant performances we stepped out to face a side 3rd from bottom.

Well from the start we couldn't get going and struggled to break Central down. On the break they looked threatening and caused us a few problems. We had some good spells and with 11 minutes played  some good passing was ended by Jake Sillifant with a low shot into the corner of the net. We grew in confidence and shortly afterwards a Nathan May corner from the right was cleared by the central defence but only found its way to Toby Weatherill on the edge of the area who hit a superb shot which deflected past the keeper to put us well in charge. This should have settled us down but credit to Central they didn't let us rest and they continued to hassleus all over the park causing us to make hasty and eratic decisions culminating in them having several chances.

After a severe half time team talk we set out again in the second half and continued to struggle. Dan Smith came on and looked threatening down the left and aidan Richards hassled the Central defence constantly but still we coulodn't finish the game off. With 7 minutes to go an error at the back gave Centrals attacker the ball and alob over the keeper found the back of the net. This set up a frantic last few minutes. Finally with only a few minutes to go Nathan May went forward with the ball passed into Aidan Richards who held off the defender returned it to Nathan, who found himself 1 on 1 with the keeper, and slotted the ball home for number 3.

A hard battling performance which could be improved on but still 3pts.

Man of the Match Toby Weatherill, tireless running and a great goal.
