Alphington AFC - Under 11s Managed by Kevin May & Tony Towl

Latest News: Alphington Tigers 2 - 1 Pinhoe Pumas 19th January 2008

This was the Alphas first game for a month and it showed for the first fifteen minutes. We struggled with our passing  and always seemed in a hurry to get rid of the ball.

Pinhoe played the ball well and were quick to clear the ball from the keeper several times causing us to lose our shape. Jake Sillifant, Reece Saunders and Henry Passmore were excellent in the first half in repelling  the Pinhoe forwards. When the defensive wall was breached Pinhoe found keeper Sammy Hill in excellent form, saving at the feet of the attackers more than once.

As the half wore on we became more of a threat with Nathan May having a 18yard shot superbly tipped over by the Pinhoe keeper. We dominated the rest of the half and restricted Pinhoe to a handful of breakaways but we couldn't find a way through.

The second half started again with us dominating and we were fortunate to take the lead when another Nathan May shot deflected off a defender and sent the keeper the wrong way.

Aidan Richards, on as a sub, hassled the Pinhoe defence causing them to make mistakes which kept up the pressure. Ten minutes in and a corner from the right swung in and from the ensuing scramble Cameron Martin, also on as a sub, connected with a strong right foot which saw the ball nestle into the corner of the net.

Pinhoe continued to have breakaway chances but again the defence was strong. Dan Smith came back on and caused them more problems at the back and was unlucky not to get a goal which he deserved.

Overall a valuable 3pts to keep the pressure on Whipton at the top with some good performances all round by Ollie Slee, James Lowton and Jacob Towl.

Man of the Match Sammy Hill for brave and strong goalkeeping.
