Alphington AFC - Under 10s Managed by Russell Cram & Martin Allen

Latest Match News from the Under 10s  Saturday 16th Feb.

Heavitree Rockets 1 - 2 Alphington
On what was the worst pitch so far this year, both teams spent the first few minutes getting used to the bounce and long grass. After 5 minutes Alphington took a deserved lead with a scrambled goal from Richard Warwick. He followed this up with a header from a corner in the 12th minute although The Rockets finished the half with some sustained pressure. The Rockets started the second half in the same vain and got one back early on in the second half. Alphington then stepped up a pace and just finished the stronger to win 2 - 1. Players to highlight for Alphington were James Ingham, Sam Allen and Adam Brooks.

Heavitree Comets 2 - 0 Alphington
Alphington dominated the first half, with Ryan Hacket enjoying playing up front, but they could not convert the pressure and went 1 nil down in the last minute. Alphington keeper made a great save only to see the ball drop at a Comets' players' feet who put it in the back of the net. The second half was much more even. The comets thought they had scored but this was ruled out as the keeper had both hands on the ball went the comets player kicked it. Well done to the ref as this could have gone either way in interpretation of the rules. one minute later The Comets went two up with a lovely long range shot into the top corner. From then on it was end to end stuff, with Michael Southard having a blinder, but Alphington unable to change the outcome.
