Alphington AFC - Under 9s Managed by Dave Bunclark

Saturday 5th April 2008
DAWLISH UNITED 1 - 3 ALPHINGTON JETS

On the last matchday of the season Alphington Jets started very brightly. Man of the match Ben Clancy Mitchell was commanding in defence, he also opened the scoring after his 20 yard speculative shot, was deflected past the Dawlish keeper. Cam Hargreaves rifled in the second after some good work from captain George Rae. In the second half, Dawlish scored a deserved goal and kept pressing, but Ben Vanstone was in good form. Cam Hargreaves set up goal machine Sam Webber to make it 3-1 to the jets. Lewis Fallon, Ben Rooke, Tony Hutchins and Jack Bunclark all played well in a good game.

In the second game, the Jets had their first scoreless draw of the season. Two committed sides put on a good performance. Cam, George and Sam all went close for the Jets, whilst Keeper Ben Vanstone pulled off some great saves to deny St Martins. The half time inclusion of Jack Bunclark and Tony Hutchins could not break the deadlock, both were denied by the impressive St Martins keeper. The two Bens' had another excellent game in defence and it was credit to all the boys for putting on a very entertaining spectacle.
