Friday 25th April Cup Semi final Westexe 2 – 0 Alphas under 10s
Starting as clear under dogs against a very impressive Westexe side, Alphington always new they would been in for a tough game. The game started off quite even, but Westexe were soon into their stride and the Alphas all had to worked tremendously hard to restrict them to long range efforts early on.
This was the pattern for the much of the game, but Westexe could not find the breakthrough. Just when it looked like it may go to extra time.
The goals finally came in the last 4 minutes the Alphas eventually going down 2 - 0.
The boys gave everything on the night and they all deserve a mention. Michael Southard,Elliott Hughes,George Richards, Sam Allan, Billy Worth, Jake Moxey, Matthew Cram, Connor Garmendia,Richard Warwick and James Probert.
Saturday 26th League Results
Crediton Saints 1 – 1 Alphas under 10s Westexe 6 – 1 Alphas under 10s
Alphington put in a good performance to earn a draw with Crediton Saints.
After falling behind to an early goal the team started to play attacking football and were rewarded when Richard Warwick met a James Probert corner on the volley to score the equaliser.
In an end to end game the Alphas had the clearer chances and James Probert was unlucky not to score the winner with 2 chances that just went over.
The exertions of the Semi final the previous night took the toll on the boys in the 2nd game when they ran out of steam against a useful Moors Youth team.
The Alphas started well but could not maintain it and Moors eventually ran out 6-1 winners with goalkeeper Michael Southard scoring the consolation from the penalty spot.
