Having a settled squad has been a massive plus for the 3rd team of late, since Christmas we have used mainly the same 15-16 players’ week in week out which has definitely helped in grinding out performances and also our performances have improved 200%.
The referee not turning up didn’t get the day off to the best start, so with one of the Cullompton posse (a qualified referee) offering to ref the game it was always going to be a battle to get a result of any description.
- Gino Gent (Ian Dowie)
- Wayne Coles (Da management)
- Russell Cram (1 header a season)
- Rob Dodd (Getting to old for this)

- Dan Hayman (Out for a few tonight)
- Adam Westle(Even better when you score the winner)
- Justin Densham (El-Eyebrow/Always on the floor)
- Nathan Grimes (can play anywhere for 70 mins)
- Sam Baxter (not available next week)
- Steve “Slimfast” Hunt (Diet coke please)

- Mark Bagwell (Not sure, doesn’t speak)
The game started off with the Alphas doing all the pressing and created a lot of chances, Sam Haggar had a golden chance to open the scoring, after great work from Adam Westle on the left the ball fell to Haggar in the box unmarked but he could only poke the ball gently to the keeper. The alphas would rue that missed chance as Cullompton scored after 20 mins with their 1st meaningful attack of the game.
Poor defending all over the pitch leading to the 1st goal. We still created chance after chance without finding the killer touch. Anth Coles was his usual shy and retiring self all afternoon, managing to wind the referee up at every given opportunity. If there was a such a condition as dyslexic tourettes then I would say he was definitely a sufferer.
We started the 2nd half in much the same manner as the 1st having plenty of the possession without breaking our duck. The introduction of Sam Baxter for Nathan grimes on the left proved to be a decisive move as he added a bit more bite and height to our attacking play. The Alphas breakthrough came on 70 mins when Dan Hayman finished coolly after some good approach play. Steve Hunt was introduced with 15 mins to go, he has lost a fair bit of weight since his last appearance, his backside is now the size of 2 houses not 4.
Adam Westle scored the winner with 5 mins to go after good work from Wayne Coles with a deep cross to the back post Adfam Westle controlled well and side footed home. Westle should have wrapped the game up with 2 mins left but missed a glorious one-on-one chance.
All-in-all I feel the better won and kept up our good sequence of results.
