Ottery 3 - 0 Alphington 10th November 2007

Clearly the winners are the ones who scored the most goals, but the score line doesn't really say how the game was played out.

A great deal of the 1st half was spent with the Alphas pressing but they seemed unable to finish. Ottery were quick on the break but likewise could not find the net.

The Alphas started the stronger in the 2nd half and looked like they were going ot take the lead several times in the opening few minutes. the deadlock was broken around 65 minutes when the Otters scored from a corner, 10 minutes later the ymade it two when the Alphas back man Whitts made a mistake thinking the Ottes striker was offside, he was clearly on-side and strolled through to make it two nil. The 3rd goal was again another simple unchallenged head in around 85 minutes.

As I said from where I was standing the game was probably more deserved of a draw, but the Otters managed to convert their chances where the Alphas could not.

I think the Otters are going to have to put in much better performances than this in their forthcoming matches if they are to be true contenders for the title.

The only thing that spoilt what was a well contested game ( in my eyes and we all have our opinions) was that the ref lost control a bit in the second half and the great refereeing display that allowed the football to flow in the 1st half was sadly lacking in the 2nd half.
