The Alphas were left to rue a series of missed chances as the Otters struck two second-half goals to earn themselves all three points at the Chronicles.
The home side almost took the lead in the 18th minute when Danny Tyrrell's 18 yard snap shot was well saved by goalkeeper Adrian Pullin.
In the 65th minute the visitors went ahead when Nigel Vaughn-Ryall's 20 yard shot took a wicked deflection off team-mate Matt Channing and trickled agonisingly over the line.
Ten minutes from time the scoring was completed when Aaron Carpannini's free-kick was headed home at the near post by substitute Dave O'Connor.
