DEVON PREMIER CUP : 17 Pensinsula League Division 1 sides joined the Devon Premier Cup at todays 3rd round stage. These clubs are the highest ranked in the re-structured cup competition so today was largely about avoiding the potential banana skins and getting through to the last 16. 9 clubs were in action against clubs from other leagues with two thirds being victorious as 6 won through. The 3 sides who will want to forget the experience in a hurry included Newton Abbot who embarrasingly lost 0-2 away at Plymouth & District side Plymouth Parkway Reserves, with the Bolitho Park outfit even playing the last third of the game with 10 men after a sending off. Budleigh Salterton who dished out some FA Vase giant-killings had the ball on the other foot as they lost 2-3 at Bovey Tracey of the South Devon League, and Waldon Athletic of the same league beat Okehampton Argyle 2-0.
Six sides did safely see off the minnows though with 3 wins over Devon & Exeter League sides as Galmpton United won 4-3 at St Martins, Appledore won 2-1 at Heavitree Harriers and Crediton United notched their 1st win in any competition this season by winning 3-2 at Beer Albion. Two sides saw off South Devon League outfits with Liverton United enjoying ahigh-scoring 6-3 win at home to Hele Rovers and Plymstock United knocking out Kingskerswell 3-1 at Deans Cross. Totnes & Dartington gained their place by virtue of a 5-2 win at Plymouth & District side Tamarside.
4 All league affairs ensured 4 sides went out and 4 went through and these included a win for Division 1 East side Exmouth Town 2-1 away at Division 1 West side Vospers Oak Villa in the only such tie. Alphington beat fellow East side Teignmouth 4-1 at the Chronicles whilst 2 ties ended in 3-0 wins as Axminster Town won by that score away at Buckfastleigh Rangers and Stoke Gabriel won by that margin at home to Ottery St Mary.

The Devon Cup is one round further on than the Cornwall Senior Cup with sides today battling for a place in the quarter finals on the 12th of January. 10 Division 1 East sides were in action with 6 of them going through to make up 75% of the last 8.
Only 1 side fell to a team from another league and that was Stoke Gabriel who lost at home to South Devon League side Brixham Villa by a 0-1 scoreline. Three sides beat teams from other leagues with Galmpton United beating another South Devon outfit in Waldon Athletic by 4-1 whilst Liverton United won 2-1 away at Friary Vaults of the Plymouth & West Devon and Totnes & Dartington beat another team from that league, Plymouth Parkway Reserves, 5-1 at their Foxhole home.
Three all league encounters saw Alphington beat Plymstock United 2-1 at the Chronicles. Axminster Town who had lost 2-3 at Exmouth in the league 10 days ago turned the score around to win the cup clash 3-2 and Appledore had the highest scoring match with an 8-1 thrashing of Crediton United.

Final - 22nd April 2008 - Ladysmead ( Tiverton)
Totnes & Dartington lifted the Devon Premier Cup for the first time in their history tonight after defeating fellow Peninsula League side Appledore 2-1 in the final played at Tiverton Town. Both sides played the game at a frantic pace and it was the Darts who opened the scoring late in the first half through Tom Comyn. After the break they went further ahead through a fortunate goal as Ben Bowhays shot cannoned off Jordan Hopkins and flew into the net. Appledore were cheered on by a strong vocal support and they gave their supporters something to cheer when Shaun Copp reduced the arrears 15 minutes from time.
